Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?Actually, who are you not to be?You are a child of God.Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinkingso that other people won't feel insecure around you.We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.It is not just in some; it is in everyone. And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously giveother people permission to do the same.As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others

visit to a dentist!!!

I would now so like to write a typical 1st grade essay on a "Visit to a dentist"
Unfortunately it would not start and end on a cheery note like " my summer holidays" or describe very lovingly of someone you know like "our postman" essays.

All that comes to my mind is the Ogden Nash poem "This is going to hurt just a little bit" ohh how i dread that phrase now!! I can so relate to every every every single line in that poem ... specially the start "One thing I like less than most things is sitting in a dentist chair with my mouth wide open"

Well I sat for more than an hour and a half with my mouth wide open in the dentists chair today for a root canal treatment, all i can say is, again like Nash said when describing the vicious cycle ... the reason i keep harping on this poem is cos i recounted it several times during that hour and a half

while the doc kept drilling and her help kept suctioning out the water ... felt like some dirty machine being cleaned up with a drill a vacuum pump and some other god knows what instruments in my mouth.

well the root canal treatment definitely had its moments of pain .. but what hurt the most was the doc's hand on my head, somehow she thought that to be the most convenient landing space and that stretched my hair and hurt really ... initially tried to sit tight despite the pain, cos that was the hand of someone who was pricking many pins into my gums, so I thot , her comfort is most important to me, ill bear the pain for just a while, but that while stretched thn i nudged my head a nit, the hand was off for a couple of sec thn bck again, waited a longer while, now literally moved her hand, she now realised it was hurting, but fortunately or unfortunately she got engrossed in the work again and the hand was back!! so now im home with a bad neck ache after a tooth treatment ...

well it wasnt really a lot of pain involved, just the highest level of discomfort ... but its amazing how pepl boost your confidence levels before you go for a treatment , sentences are like " oh i had it done, man doe sit hurt when they drill through the roots and touch your nerve!!" " oh my sister wouldnt stop howling through out the treatment!" well ... I was as expected from the comments shivering while i sat in the chair, though im glad they were all proved wrong i cant help but wonder ... prolly someone asks me next id give a statement similar to the above too ... id rather they be hapy i was wrong thn beat me up if in case the doc was bad n it really hurt!

well came out feeling confused, cos the doc let me off saying " i think ill have to take the next appointment, we'll take up the rest tomm" n just stopped at tht .... well ... thot there'd be some diff between my marketing assignment tht cld be dropped any time you feel like a visit to the mess and some work happening in my gums, specially when it involved pricking with so may needles ...

China - smart idea

Just heard a friend gush and gush about China - specifically, Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong ...
a lot of it was very interesting to hear ...

"shanghai made me feel like new york was a village!" was the first statement ... had heard something very similar from another person too ... that was more like "why do people even compare india and china!" well im not sure if the cities in China are actually "that" amazing or if it is because people's expectations are set very differently before they visit that the amazement is more pronounced ... either ways, i really want to visit China soon, for now will suffice with some pics of the same ...

Had kind of missed the discussion in the papers on traffic rules for beijing centred around the olympics, so found it interesting to hear a personal account of the same. Probably a very simple idea but interesting someone thought of experimenting with only odd numbered cars to ply on odd days and even numbered cars to ply on even days. Sounds more like some of the rules we had when playing as kids, so simple but could have been effective ... guess though this test eliminated more than one million vehicles each day, the aim was to bring down air pollution and not just traffic congestion, which it did not have too much of an impact on ... well they better think up something soon! not too impressive to have the reputation of having 16 of the world's most polluted cities in your country ...

heard a lot about the Tian an Men Square, and many stories which went like ... many students at universities aspire to join the communist party and so serve as spies to contacts in the party, hence keeping a tab on any movements against the party ... felt like i was listening to a narration of an ayn rand novel ...

never knew turkey belonged to both asia and europe ...

wonder if there is any place where you cross borders and you have to switch from the left hand side to the right ...

this continues to live up to the name of random rambling ...

just in keeping with the title would like to ramble on a bit ...
everyone and everything seems to be moving towards creating more choice ... here i refer not just to our marketers, generally there are too many options in everything in life ... but it is just this choice that makes me appreciate everything that much lesser and hence leaves a feeling of slight sadness ...
watched the movie "hot stepper" today, the climax of the final dance has a step where the dancer slides across the floor on his head, just wondering if that can actually be done ...
a job i'd love to do would be that of the host on "travel and living", I absolutely love exploring new places, trying new cuisines and who doesnt love attention on camera, and to be paid for doing all this ... id really love that!
there are a lot of important people in my life, but today just added one person whose existence I had never really acknowledged ... not sure what the name is, could be "geeta" "chandra" ... well I just know her as "bai". With great confidence in our skills to manage ourselves we fired the cooking bai (i'd really have to invite you over for lunch to prove how bad her cooking really was, just an attempt to describe it i'd say try boiling any vegetable, but just one no more, then sprinkle an insufficient amount of salt and mirch on it and absolutely nothing else, you would be enjoying our dinner. she was innovative too, the dustbin was always full of uncut vegetables cos it was always easier for her to throw half the vegetables away than cut them, i can just imagine her going "chop chop throw throw" good routine ... ), well anyway getting back, we fired her but realised we cldnt do without her, and are now actively on the hunt for a good cook, and turns out all of them are jus too busy to accomodate our house in their schedule! if someday all of them were to get an alternate better paying means of living, how would I go about my life? cant do with her cant do without her ...
so ive now rambled on some of the thoughts running through my head for now, will go back to watching the Wadia gold milion whatever derby on tv ...
